Frequently Asked Questions
What is an RTO and how does it work?
A Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) destroys VOCs by passing contaminated air through heated ceramic media beds, raising the gas temperature to 800-1000°C for oxidation. The ceramic media alternately stores and releases heat, achieving 95%+ thermal energy recovery.
What is the thermal recovery efficiency?
Our RTO systems achieve 95% or higher thermal energy recovery through premium ceramic heat storage media. This means only 5% of the thermal energy needs to be supplied by auxiliary fuel, dramatically reducing operating costs.
What VOC concentration range is suitable for RTO?
RTOs are most cost-effective for large air volumes (5,000-200,000 Nm³/h) with low to medium VOC concentrations (0.5-5 g/m³). For higher concentrations, a Direct Fired TO may be more economical.
How long does the ceramic media last?
High-quality ceramic saddle or structured packing media typically lasts 8-10 years under normal operating conditions. We use premium media with high thermal shock resistance to maximize service life.
What maintenance does an RTO require?
Regular maintenance includes ceramic media inspection, switching valve servicing, and burner tuning. Our designs feature easy-access ports and modular media beds to minimize downtime during maintenance.
